PhD studentship
The Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig is offering a
PhD studentship
in a research project on structural brain correlates of developmental dyslexia using diffusion imaging.
The project will investigate the connection between brain structure and atypical language development in children. The specific research question will focus on white matter maturation, the key method of investigation will be diffusion weighted imaging (DWI). Prior experience in the research areas of structural or functional brain imaging, of language processing or of developmental neuroscience is desirable. The successful candidate should have a solid background in data and statistical analysis. As data acquisition requires verbal interaction with young children, solid German language proficiency is necessary.
The research will be conducted at the MPI in Leipzig, Germany, an internationally leading center for cognitive and imaging neuroscience equipped with several MR scanners. Our institute offers a very international environment, with English and German being the languages spoken in the labs. It offers a friendly and generous environment of researchers with diverse backgrounds and with an excellent infrastructure.
