The future of cooperation and empathy: Tanias Singer speaks at the World Economic Forum for the second time

At the annual World Economic Forum, the major economic, political and social issues of the future are discussed.
In 2011, Tania Singer presented the neurobiological basis of emotion research and findings on the trainability of empathy and prosocial motivation. Also for this year's meeting, Tania Singer has been invited.

In keeping with this year's theme of the forum "The Great Transformation: Shaping New Models", she will participate in a panel discussion about the need for new models of leadership (transformational leadership, January 27th). A second session (The Art and Science of Happiness, 28th January) will focus on biological and cultural approaches regarding trust, stress management and health, as well as trainability of prosocial behavior and empathy.

Empathy - feeling for others

What has to happen so that people are able to relate to others mentally and emotionally, to empathize, and to act accordingly? What takes place in the brain while this is going on and what role does socialization play? Our guest is scientist Tania Singer, who investigates the phenomenon of empathy on a neuroscientific level. She will report on her research projects and findings.
