Brain-computer interface (BCI) based stroke rehabilitation

Stroke survivors often experience some level of spontaneous recovery during the acute stage and reach a functional plateau after which the upper and lower limb motor recovery is generally slow or stagnant. However, there is emerging evidence that shows the potential of the brain-computer interface (BCI) based therapies to assist with recovery beyond this plateau.

The aim of this study is to identify and understand the neurophysiological mechanisms of neural control signals of motor imagery based BCI and peripheral electro-stimulation (functional electrical stimulation, FES) performance.
