One of the challenges in developmental research is designing tasks that can be applied across ages. In this talk, I will present data from several lines of research demonstrating the usefulness of Fast Periodic Visual Stimulation (FPVS) while recording EEG to study cognitive development from infancy into adulthood. I will present data from infants, children and adults on 1. categorization of familiar object categories; 2. categorization of arbitrary object categories; and 3. individuation of familiar/novel objects. I will also describe limitations and future directions of this approach.
