Join in! Insight into Science

Gain your first professional experience and get a taste of life as a researcher. Young people can do this during the “Voluntary Social Year in Science, Technology and Sustainability” (FJN) at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences. The FJN offers an insight into neuroscience, scientific research projects, and working methods.

Who can apply?         

High school graduates with an interest in studying, or people without a high school diploma with an interest in research-related training in the field of cognitive neuroscience, can apply for the Voluntary Social Year in Science.

When does the FJN start?

The Voluntary Social Year in Science always starts in September and ends in August the following year.

How can I apply?

Send your application, including your CV, your last school report, and a letter of motivation addressed to the department/research group, to . The application deadline is the end of April each year.
