Software Solutions for Modeling and Analyzing Brain Dynamics at Different Scales

In recent years, the amount of software tools for computational neuroscience has increased substantially. Multiple tools for numerical investigations of neural dynamics at different scales exist. Simultaneously, new solutions have been developed for the integration of such tools with neuroscientific data, allowing for connectome-based whole-brain simulations or model optimization based on functional data, for example. This workshop brings together experts and developers from different fields of computational neuroscience and its intersections with experimental neuroscience. It aims to introduce and apply different software solutions to common problems in these fields and learn about their strengths and weaknesses via hands-on problems. The main program of the workshop will be framed by a general introduction into programming and neurodynamic modeling as well as a coding session in which participants can pitch ideas for new features to existing software, new software solutions, or applications of existing software to individual problems that other participants can join working on.

  • Tutorials on Python programming and neurodynamic modeling

  • Interactive workshops on tools for modeling and analyzing neural signals and structure

  • Hackathon with individual project pitches and prepared programming projects based on the tools that were introduced during the workshops

  • No participation fee

  • Free catering

Application (deadline: 10.04.2020)

There is a limited number of 60 participation slots available for this workshop. We believe the workshop will be best suited for researchers at the PhD or Post-Doc level, but it will be open to master students as well. To apply for participation, please fill out this form and send it together with a letter of motivation (maximum of 600 words) to , using the following subject: “Application for Software Solutions Workshop 2020: <first name, last name>”.
