Dr Marc Bangert wins Scientific Award 2007 of German Association for Music Physiology and Musicians' Medicine

The Scientific Award 2007 of the German Association for Music Physiology and Musicians' Medicine (DGfMM) - http://www.dgfmm.org/- has been awarded to Dr Marc Bangert from the Max-Planck-Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences in Leipzig, Germany. The prize, which is worth € 2000, will be presented to Dr Bangert at the 8th Symposium of the German Association for Music Physiology and Musicians' Medicine (DGfMM), 5–6 October 2007, at the Academy of Music Detmold, Germany.

The researcher will be honoured for his contribution “Specialization of the Specialized in Features of External Human Brain Morphology" (Bangert and Schlaug, European Journal of Neuroscience, 24 (2006)). The study demonstrated differential adaptations of motor brain regions in response to long-term training to play different musical instruments.
